As always, our aim of the SMILE Boccia Open is to have a friendly competition while providing a high quality and enjoyable environment to take part for people of all ages and abilities.
The open, which was sponsored by Irwin Mitchell sold out in less than a week, attracted over 100 players from all areas of the North East, as well as from Sheffield, Scotland, Scarborough and Leeds.
We completed 105 games across 7 different competitions and approximately 4,680 balls were propelled throughout the day. All competitions were created for all disability groups for players raging from beginner to international level, aged from 8 to 56 years old making this a truly inclusive competition.
We would like to take this time to thank everybody involved in making this competition happen including Irwin Mitchell and our amazing 36 volunteers who gave up their Sunday to help us as without you this wouldn’t be possible.
We certainly hope that you all enjoyed your day as much as we did and would like to remind you that entries for our next open, which takes place Sunday 9th February 2020 opens on Thursday 24th October at 11 am.
From everyone here at SMILE, thank you again to all the players, staff and volunteers for making this possible and we hope to see you at our next open.
